Flexible Leader

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

You’re already a great boss! You’ve got the ideas, you know where you’re going, and you’re raring to grow, scale and succeed.

You’re highly capable and while you probably can do all the things, you know that’s not where you want to be, or should be, to grow.

You’re excited by the potential of a capable and experienced team member joining the business and getting things done.

You’re willing to do what it takes to make them succeed, but your preference is to not get bogged down too much in the details of their tasks. That’s what they’re here for, right?

You’re clear and motivated by being able to spend time where your value is maximised. Go you!

YOU'RE FLEXIBLE-New

Who your next team member should be

You may be looking for THE PROJECT MANAGER/OBM (Online Business Manager), THE EXPERT or THE DOER.

You need someone who can listen to the bigger picture and ideally take that vision, break it down into actionable tasks and get on with the implementation. You can go into the detail where necessary, but you don’t want to have to know all the details for everything.

You’re looking for a reasonable level of experience, as you aren’t keen to train someone from absolute scratch on everything. They can’t be junior, and they can’t be brand new to online business.

What to look for when hiring

The key characteristics to look for in your new team member is someone who:

  • is proactive
  • is willing to take responsibility
  • has the right past experience (such as in relevant businesses similar to yours).

It’s their ability to execute that's important, combined with their strong desire to work autonomously.

Your ideal newbie will be motivated by driving results and achieving your goals, as well as the freedom to work on projects end-to-end.

a little insight into you

Your flexible style means you can be hands-on or hands-off as required. This means you need to be strategic about hiring and decide what's best for your business, to get you from here to there.

You'll get exhausted or even annoyed if you have to train your new team member in everything, as this will restrict your desire to get on with your value-adding tasks and will deplete your energy.

So spend the time now to get really clear on what you are and aren’t interested in being involved in, so you can hire with that in mind.

For the areas where you are willing to train or be more involved – this will be your opportunity to educate and therefore motivate your newbie, which should also align with the areas they want to learn more about.

what to do next

OK... so now you’re starting to learn a bit more about yourself as a leader (at this unique stage of your business) and the type of person you need to hire.

To build further on that, you need to consider your future business and the role you want to play in it.

Right now, you might feel like you’re doing everything in your business (and maybe you are!).

You might be dealing with all or any of the following:

  • Customer Generation (lead generation, social media, content creation, all the marketing)
  • Service Delivery (delivering the training, the product, or whatever awesome thing you do)
  • Customer Retention (thinking about new products or services, community management, customer service)
  • Technology (the website, the email system, etc)
  • All the administration & finance (invoicing, receipts, credit card payments, tax)
  • and more!

Your Next Step is

To IMAGINE YOUR FUTURE.

And more specifically, IMAGINE YOU in your FUTURE business.

The one where you have a team of A-Players surrounding you and supporting you.

Where you have the freedom and flexibility to work in a way that adds the most value to the business, while the rest is driven by your team.

  • Write down what YOU WILL be doing.
  • And write down all the things you WON'T be doing.

Describe your ideal role and start to list out all the things someone else can be doing.

This is your first step to success!
